The iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO is a great robot vacuum that comes with a range of clever features that make it more easy to maintain than other models. It's also easy to set up and operate with the app that guides you through the process step-by-step. Its ability to resumptuate where it left off during our tests is another impressive feature. It did this for 77 minutes on one cleaning before the battery ran out.
Unlike some of the other robovacs we evaluated, the i3+ EVO comes with an automatic emptying bin that dumps debris into an external dirt compartment on its charging base when it's full. The i3+ EVO is able to prevent overfilling with a self-emptying bin. However it still needs to be manually emptied at the end of each cleaning session. The i3+ EVO dustbin can hold 2.4L which will last for four to five cleaning sessions.
Like the i7, this model is equipped with state-of-the-art floor sensors to create maps and navigate neat rows. However the i3+ EVO only stores one map, whereas the i7 can store multiple. The i7 can also make use of its map to create no-go zones and virtual barriers, but the i3+ EVO can't.
The i3+ EVO does a better job of removing debris from the surface in comparison to other robovacs we've examined, but it's not the best at cleaning corners and edges. It is also less gentle on furniture, despite being remarkably silent. It was a bit rough on furniture, as it moved chairs away. It also made some collisions against the sides of the test bed.
2. Black & Decker Pro Q5
The Q5 Pro is an excellent choice, whether you are expanding your collection of robot vacuums, or just getting started. It has a sleek design with a powerful navigation system, as well as effective automation at a reasonable cost. You can schedule cleanings or create no-go zones. You can also view the status of your battery. The app is simple to use, but it does not support Apple HomeKit which is slated to be added in 2025. Apple updated its website's footnote in early November to reflect that the feature was delayed until 2025. Some other robots won't work with HomeKit, but many of them work with Siri Shortcuts.
